The LORD our Protector (Bible, Psalms: 121)

I look to the mountains;
   where will my help come from?
My help will come from the LORD,
   who made heaven and earth.

He will not let you fall;
   your protector is always awake.
The protector of Israel
   never dozes or sleeps.
The LORD will guard you;
   he is by your side to protect you.
The sun will not hurt you during the day,
   nor the moon during the night.

The LORD will protect you from all danger;
   he will keep you safe.
He will protect you as you come and go
   now and for ever.

(Bible, Psalms: 121)

A Prayer for Help (Bible, Psalms: 120)

When I was in trouble, I called to the LORD,
   and he answered me.
Save me, LORD,
   from liars and deceivers.

You liars, what will God do to you?
   How will he punish you?
With a solder's sharp arrows,
   with red-hot charcoal!

Living among you is as bad as living in Meshech
   or among the people of Kedar.
I have lived too long
   with people who hate peace!
When I speak of peace,
   they are for war.

(Bible, Psalms: 120)

Judging Others (Bible, Matthew: 7)

"Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way as you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others. Why, then, do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, and pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How dare you say to your brother, 'Please, let me take that speck out of your eye,' when you have a log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

"Do not give what is holy to dogs - they will only turn and attack you. Do not throw your pearls in front of pigs - they will only trample them underfoot.

(Bible, Matthew: 7)

A Good Servant of Christ Jesus (Bible, 1 Timothy: 4)

If you give these instructions to the believers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, as you feed yourself spiritually on the words of faith and of the true teaching which you have followed. But keep away from those godless legends, which are not worth telling. Keep yourself in training for a godly life. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future. This is a true saying, to be completely accepted and believed. We struggle and work hard, because we have placed our hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all and especially of those who believe.

Give them these instructions and these teachings. Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity. Until I come, give your time and effort to the public reading of the Scriptires and to preaching and teaching. Do not neglect the spiritual gift that is in you, which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the elders laid their hands on you. Practice these things and devote yourself to them, in order that your progress may be seen by all. Watch yourself and watch your teaching. Keep on doing these things, because if you do, you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

The Temptation of Jusus (Bible, Matthew: 4)

Then the Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the Devil. After spending 40 days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry. The the Devil came to him and said, "If you are God's son, order these stones to turn into bread."

But Jesus answered, "The scripture says, 'Human begins cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks.'"

Then the Devil took Jesus to Jerusalem, the Holy City set him on the highest point of the Temple, and said to him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down, for the scripture says:
'God will give orders to his angels about you;
they will hold you up with their hands,
so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones.'"

Jesus answered, "But the scripture also says, 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

Then the Devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in all their greatness. "All this I will give you," the Devil said, "if you kneel down and worship me."

Then Jesus answered, "Go away, Satan! The scripture says, 'Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!'"

Then the Devil left Jesus; and angels came and helped him.

True Happiness (Bible, The Psalms: 1)

Happy are those
   who reject the advice of evil people,
   who do not follow the example of sinners
   or join those who have no use for God.
Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord,
   and they study it day and night.
They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
   that bear fruit at the right time,
   and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do.
But evil people are not like this at all;
   they are like straw that the wind blows away.
Sinners will be condemned by God
   and kept apart from God's own people.
The righteous are guided and protected by the Lord,
   but the evil are on the way to their doom.

(Bible, The Psalms: 1)

Love for Enemies (Bible, Matthew: 5)

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your friends, hate your enemies.' But now I tell you: love you enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and give rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak only to your friends, here you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! You must be perfect - just as your Father in haven is perfect!

(Bible, Matthew: 5)

Teaching about Revenge (Bible, Matthew: 5)

"You must heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too. And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well. And if one of the occupation troops forces you to carry his pack one kilometer, carry it two kilometers. When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something, lend it to him.

(Bible, Matthew: 5)

The Parable of the Ten Young Women (Bible, Matthew: 25)

"At that time the Kingdom of heaven will be like this. Once there were ten young women who took their oil lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and the other five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any extra oil with them, while the wise ones took containers full of oil for their lamps. The bridegroom was late in coming, so the women began to nod and fall asleep.

"It was already midnight when the cry rang out, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come and meet him!' The ten women woke up and trimmed their lamps. Then the foolish ones said to the wise ones, 'Let us have some of your oild, because our lamps are going out.' 'No, indeed,' the wise ones answered, 'there is not enough for you and us. Go to the shop and buy some for yourselves.' So the foolish women went off to buy some oil; and while they were gone, the bridegroom arrived. The five who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was closed.

"Later the other women arrived. 'Sir, sir! Let us in!' they cried out. 'Certainly not! I don't know you,' the bridegroom answered."

And Jesus concluded, "Be on you guard, then, because you do not know the day or the hour.
