Jesus is Sentenced to Death (Bible, Matthew: 27)

At every Passover Festival the Roman governor was in the habit of setting free any one prisoner the crowd asked for. At that time there was a well-known prisoner named Jesus Barabbas. So when the crowd gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to set free for you? Jesus Barabbas or Jesus called the Messiah?" He knew very well that the Jewish authorities had handed Jesus over to him because they were jealous.

While Pilate was sitting in the judgment hall, his wife sent him a message: "Have nothing to do with that innocent man, because in a dream last night I suffered much on account of him."

The chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask Pilate to set Barabbas free and have Jesus put to death. But Pilate asked the crowd, "Which one of these two do you want me to set free for you?"

"Barabbas!" they answered.

"What, then, shall I do with Jesus called the Messiah?" Pilate asked them.

"Crucify him!" They all answered.

But Pilate asked, "What crime has he committed?"

Then they started shouting at the top of their voices: "Crucify him!"

When Pilate saw that it was no use to go on, but that a riot might break out, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, "I am not responsibility for the death of this man! This is your doing!"

The whole crowd answered, "Let the responsibility for his death fall on us and our children!"

Then Pilate set Barabbas free for them; and after he had Jesus whipped, he handed him over to be crucified.

(Bible, Matthew: 27)

Jesus is Sentenced to Death?

Upon reading your Blog, I wondered why... You titled it as you did, contributed no new information or insight and arrived at it continued enigmatic conclusions.

In the very first instance, it should be noted, that all of the Gospels were written no earlier than ten to fifty years After the 'descendant of David' and Jewish 'messiah' was crucified. They were not written as a 'history' of the Jews, -not even as a 'history' of "Jesus Christ" in the scientific sense of that word, -they were written for the sole purpose of instilling 'faith' only. A great many things occurred between the infamous crucifixion and Saul of Tarsus aka the Apostle and eventual Saint Paul had his alleged epiphany. Among other things, the Greek transliteration of the perfectly known and clearly understood Hebrew word "messiah" was replaced with "Christ" (actually Kristos). Therefore, no Jew, during the 'trial' and 'passion' of the 'descendant of David' and Jewish 'messiah' actually knew or saw or even heard of "Christ". (The Greek word "Christ" has no etymological basis or foundation in the Greek language or customs.)

That you state that there "was a well-known prisoner" is questionable at best (there is no 'evidence', much less 'proof'), -further, that his name was "Jesus"... he was called "Barabbas" ("Barabbas" is an Aramaic appellation, the meaning of which is: Bar = Son + Abba = Father (God).
"Jesus" [Barabbas] was "released" from prison and therefore not "crucified" (contrary to the title of your Blog). There is no evidence that: "At every Passover Festival the Roman governor was in the habit of setting free any one prisoner the crowd asked for."; your 'postulation' that: "He (Pontius Pilate) knew very well that the Jewish authorities had handed [Jesus] over to him because they were jealous." is both 'weak' and, to my research, 'incorrect'.

At issue was not simply a 'guilty man' (Jesus [Barabbas]) versus an 'innocent man' (the 'descendant of David and Jewish 'messiah') but rather, the very purpose for which the 'descendant of David' and Jewish 'messiah' came into Jerusalem in the first place... i.e. to re-establish the ancient 'theocracy' of his forefather as opposed to the 'secularism' of Herod.

What is omitted from the Gospels is the Fact that the Jewish nation was at WAR (with itself i.e. insurrection)... since the days of the 'census' (6 A.D.) and that ended after the wealthy and educated Jews abandoned Jerusalem and scattered themselves abroad, Jerusalem was razed to the ground (except the western or 'wailing' wall) and the nation was utterly destroyed in 70 A.D.

Seriously tho... that is some very interesting reading. A reluctant iconoclast indeed. At least you have two very good articles to put up on jesusbarrabus.info ;)

Wongi - if I could ask a technical favor. I see you applied some late patches to the DRUPAL ADSENSE MODULE V5 which are waiting to be rolled into V6 so the Drupal6 version of this module can be worked on. Various discussion is going on over at http://drupal.org/node/223099#comment-795698 - any chance you can spare the time to leave a message and/or give some insight to the guys who are waiting to work on this module?

Thanks in Advance - Finkpad

Ok I did it...

Ok I did it... But you shouldn't ask for help in this way... You may contact me though this site's contact form, though my personal email address, or even the contact form from drupal.org... This is not the good style :S

Anyway, patch is now submitted in http://drupal.org/node/223099#comment-1156930, and using within my site. Please test and comment if there is any problem :D

Apologies

Finkpad's picture

no offense meant - I was just commenting on the article and noticed that you were a contributor to a module I was discussing over in the Droop CVS. I thought a question was acceptable since your site content is diverse and varies from PHP coding to religious quotes. I for one, appreciate your help and time spent coding on the adsense injector module. Thats it. I wont mention it on this site again.

/me zips up mouth.

Thanks for the help either way. :)

The one thing I do not understand about the Bible is all the different interpretations of what the Bible says. What you interpret could be 180 from what I interpret. So who is correct?
